The TransFormation Ministry of MCC NoVA sponsors and facilitates 3 support groups for the greater community.

  • Second Fridays a peer led support group for members and friends of the Transgender and gender expansive community. In addition, meetings include a closed support group for the parents and guardians of Transgender and gender expansive children, tweens, teens, and young adults. These meetings also provide space for a concurrent closed group gathering for Transgender and gender expansive tweens and teens.

The TransFormation Ministry of MCC NoVA also organizes the Northern Virginia Interfaith Trans* Day of Remembrance Service, and sponsors the event along with several co-sponsors and supporters.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance occurs annually on November 20, and is a day to memorialize those who have been killed over the previous year as a result of transphobia, or the hatred or fear of transgender and gender non-conforming people. This event also serves to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the trans* communities, especially those who exist on the margins. On average, there is one such murder in this country every month. Most of these murders go unsolved.
