\nNovember 13, 1956 – September 14, 2026<\/strong>
\nIt is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce beloved MCC NoVA church member, Jaime Fernandez, died peacefully the morning of September 14, at home surrounded by friends and family.
\n

On A Personal Note….<\/strong>
\nHe made the best guacamole….
\n
\nI once told Jaime that he was a Farmer, a Gardener at heart, and that he had taken a whole family from one land, transplanted them to another, cared for them and tended them…
\nand they thrived! And multiplied! \ufeff
\n\ufeffNo better compliment to a Gardener.<\/p>\n

The man could always make me smile, even on Sundays when a smile seemed hard to come by. He had the presence of a Preacher in the pulpit, and i kept telling him that i was going to have him preach one Sunday. Given time, i know it would have happened. Given time… (sigh)… There is never enough time. Never enough time to do the things you want to. All i know is that my life is so much richer because he entered it. He came with smiles, and the gifts of family, and so many people who have become so dear to me and our community. I’m gonna miss this man. And i will never forget him. Not Adi\u00f3s, Jaime. Hasta Luego … nos vemos… whenever i think of you.. \ud83d\ude42 \u2764\ufe0f

\nDid you ever forget when you volunteered to provide Social Hospitality? Or forget to sign up while you were at church? You can now access the schedule and sign up online at
\n Meal Train\u00ae for MCC-NoVA’s Social Hospitality<\/a>.
\nYou can also use it to volunteer to bring the monthly birthday cake. And we’ll continue to have the paper sign-up sheet at church.

\nProviding Hot Meals Distribution! <\/strong>
\nWe need people to help and to participate with the distribution.
\nJust an FYI-we serve between 104-125 meals \ufeffeach time we do this service.
\nDid i mention we need people to help and to participate with the distribution?
\nSo reach out and join us at our monthly Homeless Ministry on
\nOct 4th <\/strong><\/big><\/p>\n

Our first meet up location is at 7:45am at the Home Depot on Blenheim Blvd (near Fairfax Circle). Our second stop is just down the street at Christ and St Luke\u2019s church. Both are in Fairfax. We can always use extra hands!

While MCC NoVA has always contributed financially to FACETS, a nonprofit that aims to help meet the needs of those who suffer the effects of poverty and homelessness in Fairfax, we also actively contribute by physically assisting with the feeding of the homeless in Fairfax City, as well as helping to provide for their other needs, thanks to Team Leaders … and perhaps you? Volunteers welcome!<\/p>\n

HOMELESS MINISTRY NEEDS:<\/strong>
\nBananas, Applesauce Cups, Apple Juice, Tangerines, Feminine Toiletries, Socks, Wash Cloths, etc.
\nPlease bring these items to the church by the end of this month so they can be distributed the 1st Sunday of next month. <\/p>\n
